This 1996 single from Scenic features two non-album instrumental pop gems which neatly bridge their first two fill-length releases. “Sage” is a catchy slice of desert surf pop with an irresistible melody, while “Another Way” is built around a melodic ascending rhythm guitar which spirals around on itself while the other instruments build ever upward. Featuring former members of Savage Republic and Shiva Burlesque, the EP version also includes as a bonus the three tracks which appeared on Scenic’s debut 7” EP “The Kelso Run,” early mixes of songs that also appeared on their first LP “Incident At Cima.”

Scenic is the group formed by Savage Republic and Independent Project Records founder Bruce Licher in 1992, when he was joined by former Shiva Burlesque bassist James Brenner and drummer Brock Wirtz. Scenic's debut album Incident At Cima was conceived as an all-instrumental soundtrack for the E. This could've easily come off as a cynical cash-grab by a band that had broken up 11 years prior to the release of this record, but that's not what this is.
